Carolyn Cooper
Founder · CA Licensed Professional Fiduciary
Carolyn Cooper - known to clients and friends as Carrie - is a Licensed Professional Fiduciary with more than 15 years of experience in trust administration, private wealth management, and fiduciary oversight. Carolyn brings a disciplined, thoughtful approach to sensitive financial and personal matters, always with discretion and genuine care.
Carolyn's understanding of fiduciary work isn't purely academic. In 2017, her mother suffered a sudden brain injury that left her in a coma for seven days. Overnight, the family faced urgent financial and legal decisions with no roadmap and no time to prepare. Serving as Power of Attorney, Carolyn stepped in — drawing on her financial background to navigate those decisions steadily alongside family advisors.
What that experience made clear wasn't just how overwhelming a crisis feels — it was how much easier everything would have been with a proper plan already in place. A clear structure. A named professional. A neutral, experienced hand already at the table. Legacy Guided was founded to be that plan — for families who are thinking ahead, for estates that deserve careful stewardship, and for the rare moments when everything changes at once and someone truly steady needs to be there.
Carolyn lives in Marin County with her husband, two active children, and two orange tabby cats. When not at her desk, she can be found on the ski slopes, the golf course, or out on the San Francisco Bay in the early morning hours — rowing on the water before the rest of the world wakes up. That same discipline and love of the process, she'll tell you, shows up in her client work too.

The Legacy Guided difference
A professional fiduciary isn't just for families in crisis — it's for the ones who are thinking clearly right now and want to make sure the people they love are protected when life gets complicated. Parents who want to spare their children from the emotional and logistical weight of managing complex finances. Individuals who want their wishes carried out by someone experienced and neutral, rather than leaving those decisions to family members who may disagree, live out of state, or simply not know where to begin.
It's also for the parents who worry — quietly, privately — about what happens if the kids don't get along. Or whether anyone will truly be there to manage things carefully when they no longer can. A professional fiduciary removes that uncertainty entirely. Not because family members aren't capable or caring, but because some decisions are simply better made by someone with no stake in the outcome other than doing the job right.
